DELICIOUS MEATBALLS AND GRAVY


ingredients

1/2 large onion
2 cloves garlic
1/2 c. oil
3 (28 oz.) cans Progresso tomatoes
2 (28 oz.) cans puree
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 can water
1 Tbsp. sugar

preparation

Chop onion; add garlic to oil in a large pot. Sauté until soft (do not burn). Strain tomatoes. Add this to the onions and garlic, plus puree, salt, black pepper, water and sugar. Cook this for 1 hour, low to medium heat.

2 lb. ground beef
2 eggs
4 soft rolls (hamburger), grated
4 oz. Italian cheese
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/4 c. fresh parsley, chopped
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 c. water
1 lb. sausage
1/4 c. oil

preparation

Mix ground beef, eggs, soft rolls, cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder and water; shape into meatballs. Bake until brown (30 to 45 minutes). Sauté sausage in frypan in 1/4 cup oil. Brown, then remove sausage. Add water to pan; simmer and scrape the pan and add to the gravy. Add meatballs and sausage to the gravy; cook for 45 minutes on low heat.
