Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Stir together buttermilk and oil then pour over flour mixture and mix well. Knead dough gently on a lightly floured surface 10 to 12 times. Roll or pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter in flour between cuts, and put on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Serve warm. Makes 8 biscuits. Note: If desired, substitute 1/4 cup whole wheat flour or oat bran for 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour. Per Serving (1 Biscuit): 91 Calories, 4 g. Fat, 0 mg. Cholesterol and 99 mg. Sodium. |
