APPLE CAKE WITH CARAMEL SAUCE


Apple Cake:

ingredients

2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. apples, peeled and finely chopped
1 c. chopped walnuts

preparation

Cream sugar and shortening together; add eggs and dry ingredients. Then blend in apples and walnuts. Pour batter into 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 1 hour at 350° in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

Caramel Sauce:

ingredients

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. cream
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

preparation

Mix sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil. Serve warm over apple cake and top with whipped cream.
