ISRAELI HONEY COOKIES


ingredients

1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. soft shortening
1 egg (unbeaten)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. honey
1/2 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. seedless raisins
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces, chopped

preparation

Preheat oven to 375°. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. With electric mixer at medium speed, mix shortening, egg, vanilla and honey until very light and fluffy. At low speed, beat in flour mixture, oats, nuts, raisins and chocolate. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork. Bake 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
